Mull is built to be private by design. This page explains exactly what that means, in plain language, with no legal jargon hiding the details.
When you set a financial goal in Mull (for example, a trip, a home down
payment, or a debt payoff target), that information — your goal type,
target amount, destination if applicable, and your progress — is saved
using your browser's built-in local storage feature
(chrome.storage.local).
When you tap "Mull it — decide tomorrow" on a specific product, Mull saves that product's name, price, and page link to your local Mulling List, along with a reminder time roughly 24 hours later. This is the one case where Mull does store information tied to something you were looking at — and it only exists because you explicitly chose to save it for later. You can view, revisit, or clear these saved items yourself at any time from the settings page.
All of this — your goals, your progress, and anything in your Mulling List — lives entirely on your own device. None of it is sent to Mull, to any server we operate, or to any third party. We have no ability to see, access, or retrieve this information, because it never leaves your browser.
If you uninstall the extension or clear your browser's extension storage, all of this data is permanently deleted. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Mull's popup activates when you click an "Add to Cart," "Reserve," or similar purchase-intent button on a supported shopping or travel site. To show you the product name and price, the extension reads this information directly from the webpage you are already viewing in your own browser.
In most cases, this information is used only to displae the popup to you, in that moment, on your device — it disappears once the popup closes. The one exception is if you choose to tap "Mull it — decide tomorrow," in which case the product name, price, and link are saved to your local Mulling List as described above, until you act on it or clear it yourself. None of this is ever transmitted to Mull or stored on any server we operate.
Some links shown inside Mull may be affiliate links. This includes the popup's "Buy anyway" and "See a smarter option" buttons, as well as links shown on the settings page — including investing platforms shown in the Build Wealth & Invest goal, and partner links shown when you complete a Travel, Home, or other goal. If you complete a purchase or sign up through one of these links, the retailer or platform may pay Mull a small commission, at no additional cost to you.
This commission relationship is based solely on the link you click — it has nothing to do with any personal data, since none is collected or transmitted in the first place. For a full explanation of which links are affiliate links and how this works, see our disclosure page.
When you click a link inside the Mull popup or settings page to visit a retailer, financial platform, or comparison site, you leave Mull's extension and go to that third party's own website. That site's own privacy policy and data practices apply once you're there — Mull has no visibility into or control over what happens on their site.
Mull requests only the browser permissions necessary to detect purchase-intent buttons on supported shopping and travel sites and to display the popup. These permissions are used solely for that function and not for any other purpose, including tracking, analytics, or advertising.
If Mull's data practices ever change — for example, if a future feature requires storing information outside your device — this page will be updated and the date at the top will reflect the change. We will not make material changes that reduce your privacy without clearly communicating them here first.
